Welcome to the website of Chica Chimu. Established in England 2012, my small designer textiles business is all about quality, contemporary design and a touch of the exotic. My background in fine art and textiles has led me to where I am now. I love creating beautiful objects in luxurious natural materials and fibres. More than that, I take great pleasure in showing others how to do it too! My many years experience in teaching has led me to produce an exciting range of workshops that I run at particular times through the year, keep an eye on the 'Workshops' page for a list of forthcoming classes. 

 

It's been a busy couple of years and in all honesty they've turned out a little different to how I'd imagined they would! But isn't that life! 2013 saw the launch of my designer ‘butterfly collection’ needle felting kits, (see 'Products' page), and in 2014 I discovered nuno felting, a beautiful technique that involves combining wool with a fabric (mainly silk) in order to make a very light weight textile. 

 

I'm continuously exploring new ways of working and I love experimenting with new techniques to produce exciting textiles.
